FEATURED INSTALLATION:

IDENTITY
This project was created in exploring the duality of human character and showing the extremity of such occurrences. The central sphere and stem are evenly divided as a way of showing such duality, one side being white, and full of crane, the other side being red, with sharp glasses and porcelain showing the contrast of kind and evil. On each side, the stem is embedded with an organic glass to show the projected inside, in the representation of the inner heart is reflected by the duality, showing without showing a stereotypical representation of the human mind. In addition, the photography would also present this installation with experimentation, showing the balance of risk-taking and artistic manner.
3D PHOTO
With its popularity on the internet, the Metropolitan Museum has then gained a glamorous filter, not with what kind of art that this museum would have to offer, but it has rather become a representation of the glamorous upper east side life of the New York City, and for that, the MET is more than a museum.
It is needless to say that the fact that the majority of those who went were betraying the original intent to which the artworks and artifacts were exhibited, and that is indeed satirical. However, this is the truth that lies within the current social norm. Art can be seen as a derivative of life, and to many visitors, it might be above life, and too distant for them to genuinely approach art. Thus, the psychological outcome of going into the museum and seeing the artwork and artifact may not even be as rewarding as getting dozens of likes for the Instagrammable photos that they took and posted on social media. And this is not just applicable to the demographic of the visitor of the MET, but a similar proportion can be applied to many other occurrences in society. In order to express this particular phenomenon, our group has decided to produce a digital collage, presented with the image sourced from the entrance and the surrounding of the metropolitan museum of Art, which categorizes a variety of people/visitors that are outside the MET.
Utilizing a wide-angle panoramic background of the MET, our photos are to present those specific groups of people with the idea of proportion, color, and form in mind. In achieving that, effects such as overlaid layers and motion blur were used for a horizontally stretched stairway, vertically motion blurred and stretched column, scattered and misplaced detail shots, as well as a subtle layer of the neighboring building. Furthermore, many detailed shots of the people, as well as some other surrounding objects have been placed into the background, with most of the people being proportional to the background, and other elements, such as the neighboring buildings and the pigeons, were disproportionate to the Metropolitan Museum, to both compliment the mysterious yet retro-futuristic style and allude to their eternality against the metropolitan museum, while on the stream of time, all of the visitors are simply a pedestrian to those eternal companions.
Therefore, this 3D photo is not just reflecting the shift of value to modern people, and an indignant sigh to this recurring societal situation. But only when such emotions are being sensed and delivered, their negligible state against the stream of time would then become more dimensional and significant of others’ perspective, and that is not pessimistic for how satirical this social norm is, because opposed to real and fake, compliment and criticism, the only aspects that contradict the known is oblivion.
MEMORY ARTIFACT
Pain is not just a physical experience like how it’s being scientifically defined, because on top of that, pain signals will also develop into a nuanced feeling psychologically, and with such an extreme circumstance, the pain would become some of the most significant memories. However, there is often a duality associated with pain. Humans are social animals, and when one endures pain, others would show compassion, because the natural reaction of pain would be able to draw a similar piece of memory. Thus, while many may not be able to recall how painful it was, they shall always be grateful for the assistance, care, and sacrifices that they have received.
SURVIVAL AND REVIVAL
In exploring the eternality of life, this miniature world was created to showcase such relations of eternal life in its everlasting cycle of birth and death. With the seed about to come down from the melting ice that has isolated it from rebirth, it was as if the perfect shape of this cube was still being destroyed by the hope of the growth of the seed itself, and this is the project that captures the moment at which the transition within such moments was shown.
